OUR SERVICES

Pre and Post Natal Support (Best Beginnings)

Ezer offers freshly cooked nutritious kosher meals and volunteers for families with short-term difficulties due to a pregnancy related illness or after the birth of a baby. In 22-23 we distributed nearly 4500 meals and provided over 800 hours of volunteer support.

Parenting Support

Ezer supports parents to develop their skills to provide adequate care for their children, keeping them safe and improving family relationships. This can be either on an individual basis, as part of a family support plan, or through referral to culturally appropriate parenting support groups.

Short Breaks

Ezer is commissioned by Hackney Disabled Childrens Service to provide Short Breaks for children 5-18 years, who have special educational needs or disabilities and qualify for mid or high-rate Disability Living Allowance (DLA). A one-to-one respite provision is offered after school, on a Sunday and during the holidays. Children can access a range of culturally appropriate activities, enabled by support workers from the local Charedi community. In 22-23, 93 children were using the service.

Therapeutic Support

Ezer can commission culturally appropriate therapeutic services to vulnerable children and families who would otherwise not avail themselves of this support. Orthodox therapists meet with individuals or couples experiencing a range of challenges affecting their ability to parent or maintain a stable marriage. Ezer has a furnished therapy room which can be hired out.

Adult Home Care

Ezer provides home care services to disabled adults (18-65 years) who need support to manage their personal or social needs, commissioned by Hackney Adults team on a spot purchase basis. This service is regulated by the CQC and in 2022, we were awarded a ‘good’ rating in respect of safety, effectiveness, care, responsiveness and leadership.

Family and Emotional Support

Ezer is commissioned by the London Boroughs of Hackney and Haringey
to provide culturally appropriate family support services to vulnerable
children and families in the Charedi  community.
At a targeted level we work closely with Hackney Children’s Centres to provide a multi-agency package of support which is reviewed every six weeks. For families experiencing more long-term issues, or where children have been placed on a Children in Need (CIN) plan or are subject to a Child Protection (CP) plan, we are commissioned to provide an intensive level of support in conjunction with Hackney Children and Families Service.
Our family support team includes trained Family Facilitators – Orthodox Jewish women who have brought up families of their own and are able to pass on the skills and knowledge they have acquired. As part of an agreed family support plan, they work with families in their home, to provide practical and emotional support as well as advocacy. All facilitators and support workers, if also used, are supervised on a regular basis, resulting in a professional and well- coordinated service.

Advocacy

Ezer staff can act as advocates to support families to access health, social care and legal services that they find challenging to engage with.

Contact Supervision

Ezer provides contact supervisors to undertake the supervision, observation and recording of sessions between children and family members, when subject to care proceedings. Sessions can take place in Ezer’s therapy room, or in the community and the supervisors make sure that the child is safe, and the contact is in their best interests.
